Teams and seats
The Team plan is billed per seat. You give each seat to a person by email, and while they hold it their own Stele account is on the Team plan. You manage all of it from Account → Team.
How a seat works
When you buy Team, Stele creates a team for you, with you as its owner. Your own account holds the first seat. Every other seat you bought can go to one person.
A seat changes what that person’s own account can do: unlimited private projects, members and knowledge, the hosted connection for their coding agents, and the Team assistant allowance. Each person keeps their own account, their own projects and their own sign-in. You pay for the seat; they pay nothing.
Add someone
- Open Account → Team and enter their email address under Add someone.
- They get an email. The invite also shows up in the app when they sign in with that address. If they don’t have an account yet, they can create one with it.
- They accept, and the seat is theirs. They get a short welcome email with what to do next, and you get a note that they joined.
A pending invite reserves a seat, so you can’t promise the same seat twice. If every seat is taken or reserved, add seats with Change seats, or withdraw an invite you no longer need.
Remove someone, or leave
As the owner, you can remove anyone but yourself. A member can leave on their own from the same tab. Either way the seat is free again, their account goes back to its own plan, and both of you get an email.
Nothing is deleted. If the person now has more private projects than their own plan allows, the extra ones stay readable but become read-only. Removing someone from the team does not remove them from your projects; do that in each project’s Members settings.
When the seat count or the plan changes
If you lower the number of seats below the number of people on the team, the people who joined last go without a seat until you add seats again. They stay on the team, marked no seat, and get their seat back on their own when one frees up.
If your Team plan ends (you cancel, switch to another plan, or a payment fails past its grace period), every member goes back to their own plan and gets an email saying so. The team itself stays. Restart Team and everyone’s seat comes back.
The audit log
The Audit log view on the Team tab lists everything that happened to the team, newest first: invites sent, accepted, declined and withdrawn, people removed or leaving, renames, seat changes, and the plan starting or ending. Only the owner can see it. Members see which team their seat comes from and who manages it, and nothing else.
