Enterprise
Large repos, custom limits, an SLA, and a relationship. SSO and self-hosting are add-ons from Team upward, never locked behind a self-serve wall.
Bolt-ons, when you need them
SSO
SAML / OIDC single sign-on for your whole org. Available from Team upward, with no Enterprise upsell to get there.
Self-hosting
Run Stele on your own infrastructure, with limits you set end to end. Built for stealth startups and regulated teams.
The honest answers
Do you meter my reads or searches?
No. Search and retrieval are unlimited on every plan, including Free. There's no per-query or per-token charge for reading your own knowledge, and there never will be. What Free does cap is how much you add: 500 new knowledge writes a month and 5,000 stored nodes.
What counts as a knowledge write?
Adding something new — a decision, a lesson, a task, a document. Editing, superseding, or archiving what's already there doesn't count, and never will: keeping a record correct is the whole point, and charging for a correction would be charging for the thing that makes the record worth having. Archived nodes also stop counting toward your stored total, so putting old work away frees room without deleting it.
Why does Pro have a limit at all?
To stop a runaway agent, not to sell you the next plan up. Pro's ceiling sits above the heaviest real use we've ever measured — including our own, and we use this thing all day. If you're a solo developer writing to your record constantly, you will not meet it. We publish the numbers rather than saying "unlimited" because a limit you can't see is worse than one you can.
What happens when I hit the monthly write limit?
Your agent is told, and it tells you. Reading, searching, recall, and editing all keep working — only adding something new pauses, and it resumes on the 1st. There's a little headroom past the number so a session in progress never dies mid-thought. Importing an existing codebase doesn't touch the monthly limit either: every account gets a one-time allowance so your first backfill runs start to finish.
What counts as a private project?
Any project that isn't world-readable. Free includes one private project; Pro makes them unlimited. Public projects, readable by anyone and writable only by members, are unlimited on every plan.
What happens when I hit my assistant monthly limit?
It pauses and tells you rather than cutting you off mid-conversation. Your turns pick back up when the day or month resets, or the moment you upgrade. On Free, turns are also spread across the month, up to 40 a day. Pro raises the cap to 1,500 turns/mo; Team pools 5,000 across members.
Is the CLI, plugin, and SDK free?
Yes, forever. The CLI, plugin, SDK, and hosted MCP are free on every plan. Paid plans add private capacity, more assistant turns, and team operations, never access to the core agent surfaces. The hosted endpoint connects ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client to your record with one URL — setup steps here.
Why is Team worth it over buying Pro seats?
Team-only value: a pooled assistant budget, roles + an audit log, cross-project search, and a dedicated support relationship. If all you need is more private projects, Pro is the right call.
It starts free.
